What is Ed Stelmach Reading?

We wanted to know what Alberta magazines grace Premier Stelmach's desk. So, we at the Alberta Magazine Publishers Association decided not only to ask, but to help him build his collection.

Every two weeks, we send Premier Stelmach a sampling of Alberta magazines to enjoy so he may experience firsthand the wide range of Alberta stories told through Alberta magazines as well as the quality and variety of such publications produced right here in this province. We wonder if he knows there are nearly 200 magazines publishing in this province. Find out more facts about Alberta magazines.

What about other MLAs?

On November 17th, 2009, we received the following letter from Ms. Iris Evans, MLA for Sherwood Park:

"As an avid reader, I am always happy when new material crosses my desk, and as a representative of the province, I am pleased to see these examples of quality publications from across the province.

You note in your letter the contribution the magazine industry makes to Alberta, both economically and culturally. As Minister of Finance and Enterprise, I agree on both counts. Arts and culture are vital components to a diverse, prosperous economy, and important in creating strong and vibrant communities. Goverment is taking a lead role in creating and sustaining the conditions in which culture can flourish and "The Spirit of Alberta", Alberta's cultural policy, is guiding our way forward.

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts, and thank you for sharing with me a small sample of the excellent work being put out by Alberta's magazine industry."

Sincerely yours,

Iris Evans, Minister

Mr. Ken Allred

We sent Mr. Ken Allred, MLA for St. Albert, these magazines: LawNow , Northwest Business and techlife. Here's what he had to say:

"I read a broad cross-section of Alberta newspapers and magazines, such as the St. Albert Gazette, Saint City News, Edmonton Journal, Westworld, ALS News, Boundaries, Alberta Venture, Law Now, Alumni Link, etc.

Could somebody please give me more hours in the day to read all of the great material out there before it becomes stale dated!"

TELL Premier Stelmach what Alberta magazines you enjoy and why he should read them too!
